The ARGOS digital twin of Kefalonia in one interactive map. Toggle layers from the panel:
- Base map: roads, trails, buildings, beaches, municipalities and points of interest from OpenStreetMap.
- Wildfire risk: screening index from slope, fuel, aspect, road proximity and historical burns, weighted into a 0-100 score, checked against 24 EFFIS fire perimeters (2017 to 2026); displayed as moderate, high, very high.
- Flash flood risk: drainage convergence, receiving slope, upstream burn scar and topographic wetness, checked against the February 2025 storm.
- Fire coverage: buildings coloured by drive time to the nearest fire station over the OSM road network (pgRouting); evacuation-port times sit in the same popups.
- Sea conditions: wave height, period and direction from the Copernicus Marine MEDWAM4 model at 14 beaches, refreshed twice daily, 48 hours forward.
- Sea currents: animated surface-current streaks from Copernicus Marine on the same run cycle, driven by the map time scrubber.
- Bathymetry: EMODnet depth contours to -3500 m.
Limitations: risk layers are screening baselines, not operational forecasts. Flood risk omits drainage infrastructure. Travel time assumes clear roads and no traffic. Sea conditions are regional, not local surf. Known gaps per layer are documented in the methodology on GitHub.
Data sources: OpenStreetMap, Copernicus Sentinel-2, Copernicus DEM, Copernicus Marine, EFFIS, EMODnet.
